Juguete was built in 1986 and was designed by Malcolm tennant (pdf). The model is called Spyder MkII and there is a document pdf page 10-12) which, among other things, includes an interview about Spyder.
At the same time as the Juguete, a sister boat the Scarlattikvarten was built. On Martins site there are lot's of information about the construction, thoughts about modifications and technical deep dives..
About Motor Torqueedo 1003 CS with extension cables
Thanks to the 5 m long extension cable to the tiller, the engine can be controlled from a distance. In order to also be able to easily redirect the engine, there is also an extendable shaft that is more stable than the torqueedo tiller. A system to be able to pull the propeller up from the surface of the water as much as possible during sailing is regulated from the engine nacelle.
- One charge of the lithium-ion battery lasts a long time, at least for three visits to ports. The power of the engine is absolutely enough for an easy driven boat like Juguete. It is also meant for sailing, not for motoring for very long distances as some others do.

The nacelle receives the Torquedo motor and an extra lead battery that is well anchored. It is possible to borrow power from both lead and lithium-ion batteries with installed and extra connections. To keep track of the condition of the lead battery, a measuring instrument is included. Image motor nacelle and Torqueedo
All boats need maintenance.
When I took over Juguete in 2008, I wanted it to be in perfect condition. During my years, both boat and trailer have been improved and are in very good condition. The materials used are the same as it was built in, epoxy as binder and polyurethane as varnish. Details of maintenance and improvements are available at CREATE
- The weight of the hull was calculated based on the results of a crane lift, it was 230 kg per hull. The new laminates covering the entire hull increased weight by less than 18 kg. In total, all changes, such as new deck and nacelle, laminate etc. increased weight of boat by approx. 85 kg. If you include accessories such as anchors, chains, ropes, sails, etc., the weight increases by another 100-200 kg. Juguete feels like very easy driven and is not noticeably affected by a few extra kg.
- There are lots of pictures from how Juguete has been handled during launches, masting, sailing, renovations and more. To support my memory, some instructions have also been made because I do everything alone nowadays, apart from sailing. However, Martin often does that with his Scarlattikvarten, here are some interesting

- This summer I tried to install a dinghy on the deck that would withstand wind, it went well. An old "Fjällräven (arctic fox)" tent fits perfectly on the deck if you want weather protection. There are safety straps (unused Wichard Lyf´Safe) that I made attachment points for that can be used with the right lifejackets and Baltic-safetylines

The last thing I did after picking up the boat in 2023 is to look over some painted surfaces, grommets and to sand down all the bottom paint. I had tried a type that unfortunately did not work well in our waters.

I used to put Juguete far from the dock, sometimes a bit far - but it still works.
